BASIC RESORT TRENDS 2019

by Beth Shankle Anderson

Everybody likes new trends, but who wants to wait to wear them?  Resort 2019 has brought some great trends to the runways and showrooms of some of the top designers.  These trends are so exciting that I don’t want to wait until the Resort 2019 season begins to wear them!  You might be asking, “When is Resort 2019?”  While resort season is often considered to be late Fall to early Spring, many of these trends can also be sported in summer.

However, Resort wear and Spring/Summer trends can overlap as they are both celebrating the vacation season.  It’s fun to look towards the resort wear season while it’s still summer and wear the upcoming trends (if they aren’t already a trend right now!).

We have narrowed down our TOP nine trends from Resort 2019 collections that you can start rocking out now.

Fashion is fun so you should mix and match to suit your own personal style.

Polka Dots

This trend has been around for a hundred years and polka dots do come back quite often as we’ve seen them in collections for the major fashion calendar events in the Spring and Fall.  Polka dots are fun making them perfect for summertime.

White Suit

A staple in the Spring/Summer 2018 collections, white suits make an easy transition to resort wear.  They are generally lightweight and easy to wear making them perfect to wear now or later.

Mixed Florals

This trend is easy to wear because it was a trend from the Spring/Summer 2018 runways which gives it an easy transition to resort wear.  Florals are perfect for both the Spring/Summer and resort seasons so mixing them up in the same outfit can be an enjoyable task.

Peasant Dress

Does boho chic ever really go out of style?  We can’t think of anything more comfortable to wear this summer than a breezy peasant skirt.  This echoes my sentiments for resort wear as we don’t think that there could be a more relaxed, yet polished look.

Bold Stripes

Top designers have shown bold stripes over several different collections.  The stripes are not cohesive in that their direction is all over, from horizontal to vertical, to everything in between.  Stripes look beautiful on resort wear, but they also can spruce up a summer outfit because stripes make an outfit “pop”.

Khaki

The most dominate color of the upcoming resort wear season is khaki.  This color trend has been around for several seasons and its popularity keeps growing.  So why not wear khaki now?  It’s definitely in fashion.

Caftans

Steeped in history, caftans have been around for centuries.  They are perfect for summer because, like peasant dresses, they are relaxed and airy to wear.  Their bright colors and patterns make them interesting conversation pieces.  They can be interchangeable between Spring/Summer and resort seasons making them a versatile choice.

Wide Leg Pants

Wide leg pants are living up to their hype.  They were on trend this past Spring, as well as seasons past, and are currently part of every fashionista’s wardrobe.  Whatever season you choose to wear them, whether it’s now or resort season, just know that you’ll be on point.

Double-Wide Belts

One trend that we are  totally excited about is the double-wide belt!  It is essentially two belts stacked above and below each other so as to really cinch in your waist and give you an hourglass look.  Having this silhouette is ideal in any season!
