BASIC: What are the music influences for the track and your work?
I have many music influences because I listen to way tooooo much music, I always have my headphones on. Lately I’m very into this slow, sultry, sexy R&B vibe. Sabrina Claudio is number one, I truly consider her the world’s greatest artist, Kehlani also influenced this track, SZA and Jhene Aiko. When it comes to my general sound, i’m going for R&B with some jazzy and electronic elements. Each track on my upcoming project is so different, all different moods and tones, also love Alina Baraz, Black Coffee, Cesar Evora, Angelica Maria etc…
BASIC: How did you choose the visuals?
The visuals came to me because of color, whenever i’m producing film content or music content through my “Romeo film productions” company, I always see a color pattern and tone in my mind. For “Apologies” I saw vibrant oranges, pinks, purples and there was no doubt that Positano, Italy was the perfect setting for it. My filmmakers (Magnetwo- Giorgio Marangolo and Lorenzo Palazzi) brought my vision to life with their talented high quality skills.
BASIC: How do you feel the video speaks to your overall style?
I’m extremely happy with it, it’s 100% my image and style, i’m very picky, meticulous with my ideas and color plays a big part. The fact that my filmmaking team (Giorgio Marangolo and Lorenzo Palazzi) whom I work with for all my visuals, are always able to not only bring my vision to life but better it, is a huge blessing for me, they’re super talented, I love their whole film style/tone.
BASIC: What’s next?
I have a loooot of songs i’ve written over the years, a few of them are ready to be released. A few singles backed up by visuals are on the way this month and the following months and once it’s ready, THE ALBUM!
