If Rey from Star Wars needed a designer, one would call upon brother and sister duo Nicholas and Christopher Kunz behind the inspirational Nicholas K. Their Fall 2016 Runway Show had us dreaming of being an effortless urban nomad draped in layers of silk, slinky sashes and leather bandanas fastened around our heads. Inspired by the futuristic, self-sufficient desert community Arcosanti, Nicholas K stuck with neutral colors of camel, cream, black and merlot.
Rousing looks cruising the catwalk included a dark, date colored crushed velvet dress with a low cut V that was slit up-to-there, a monochromatic steel colored outfit of slouchy drop crotch pants, a layered trench coat and thick leather waist belts. If this is the future, we can’t wait.
What was the main inspiration behind the “urban nomad” theme you have coined in your many collections?
” “Urban Nomad” is really the integrity of the brand. It’s about striving for timeless style and products that enhance living. It’s also about life in balance, respecting the natural world around us even when living in urban environments. “
If you could choose three muses to sit front row wearing your line who would it be?
” Louise Bourgeois, Kristen McMenamy and Aomi Muyock.”
