Designer and stylist Selam Fessahaye and Sheila Jansson, one of Sweden’s most prominent directors, now present a short film who portrays Selam Fessahaye’s autum/winter collection 2019. The short film is recorded at Dragon Gate in Gävle, Sweden, together with around 20 friends of Selam Fessahaye, including her sister Dimona Fessahaye and Bintou Traoure for production coordination and Seinabou Chune and Sainabou Secka for hair & makeup.

The short film is a close collaboration between Selam and director Sheila and the idea arise from the wish to create something unique together that is in the borderland between fashion, art and film. The two creators complement and challenge each other which makes them a great team.
One of the main characters is the French performance artist Kirikoo Des aka NSDOS. Selam has known him for years and today they call each other family – “La Fam”. All people being part of the film is as well main characters in their own way of expression. Selam Fessahaye’s exuberant design is a true celebration of family, friendship and a clear demonstration of the beauty of breaking boundaries.
Stylist and designer Selam Fessahaye har received huge international recognition and her design has been worn by A-list celebrities such as Rita Ora, Tracee Ellis Ross, Ella Mai and Sam Smith. Fessahaye launched her first ready-to-wear collection in Stockholm August 2018 during Stockholm fashion week SS 19. She followed up on that show with another of great impact, presented in the short film. For fall19 she used a lot of upholstery fabrics and combined 18th-century silhouettes with Pan-Asian influence such as Chinoiserie- style fabrics, samurai knots in the hair, obi belts, which came from spending a lot of time in the Far East.
