BASIC: What is your artist statement and what does your brand stand for?

The future is here. After all, it’s 2021, but still, there’s a major gap in the market when itcomes to gender inclusive garments and sustainable, fashion-forward pieces. With the brand, I’m creating sustainable glamour for all genders, while continuing to ensure the beauty of fashion storytelling, craft, and artistic enjoyment are at the forefront of the collection’s development. I see no reason to lack glamoursimply because of sustainability.

BASIC: If you had to create a Red Carpet look from food, which products would you choose and why?

I absolutely love chickpeas. They are soversatile. Even for a dress, they’d make a stunning base. With all the resources in the world at hand, I’d dry them and then dye them in a lovely degrade. Then I’d hand-stitch them together into a spectacular yet tremendously sexy and revealing gown. Haute cuisine gone haute couture!

BASIC: If you had to dress any cartoon character, who would it be and why?

I’m secretly crushing on Batman. He’s so mysterious and sexy, but I’d only love to dress him alongside Robin. I feel like they would make the perfect queer superhero couple in the world.

BASIC: What has been the most memorable experience of your career?

My runway show I held in Moscow in the fall of 2019 with the aid of the Russian Fashion Council. It was such a magical IRL experience filled with exciting people, places, and events surrounding the show. Additionally, it took place right before the pandemic took the world by storm and turned every possibility of meeting and conversing with the viewers of the collections digital. I really miss this direct reaction from people.

BASIC: If you could wear only one runway designer for the rest of your life, who would it be and why?

Myself, of course! I’ve created my brand because I believe it fills an important void in the fashion world. If I had to choose someone else, I couldn’t choose one brand. I’d have to choose something more team-oriented like Acne Studios. They’ve got a strong repertoire of relaxed and wearable garments. They have playful and high-end pieces that fit different occasions.
