What drives your creative mind?
The core of my inspiration comes from the intricate dance of natural wonders and forces that shape our planet. The complex ecosystems that thrive around us are a constant source of fascination, and I find immense inspiration in the delicate balance of life they represent. Nature, particularly its intricate beauty, has been a wellspring of inspiration, as my grandmother wisely advised me to seek creativity in the natural world. My creative mind is not only driven by natural wonders, but also by the allure of surrealism, a rich palette of colors, repurposing discarded paper, and the vision of wearable art that extends into a utopian future inhabited by imaginative creatures. It’s about capturing the essence of our world’s complexity, repurposing forgotten treasures , and translating it all into wearable expressions of artistry and imagination. This profound connection with nature, the transformative power of surrealism, the fusion of art and fashion, and the treasure hunt for discarded materials define my brand’s essence, inviting others to explore the extraordinary in the everyday.

How do you see your designs influencing individuals and trends in society?
I envision my designs, crafted in collaboration with my sister and collage artist Ashley, as catalysts for profound influence on individuals and societal trends. Our shared passion for transforming fashion into wearable art transcends the conventional boundaries of clothing. As a female-led company, we actively create room for diverse voices and stories, emphasizing the power of diverse perspectives in the creative process. Each creation takes on a life of its own, blurring the lines between art and fashion and becoming a statement of creativity and imagination. Moreover, our creative journey involves a thrilling treasure hunt, as we repurpose discarded books and magazines to create the paper collages that form the foundation of our designs. It’s a process that breathes new life into long-forgotten printed materials, giving them a purpose once more and a chance to be seen again in a fresh, artistic context. As individuals embrace our designs, I see them not merely as garments but as wearable art pieces that ignite conversations and inspire change. Our otherworldly creations challenge the norms of fashion, urging people to view clothing as an extension of their identity, values, and beliefs. This shift in perspective encourages individuals to make conscious choices about what they wear, fostering a deeper connection between fashion and self-expression.

How do you identify the balance between pursuing your personal artistic vision and catering to the preferences of the audience or market?
Balancing my personal artistic vision with the preferences of the audience or market is a nuanced and ongoing process. My core belief is that authenticity is paramount in creative expression. I’ve learned that staying true to my artistic vision is what makes my brand unique and resonates most with my audience. That said, I also understand the importance of connecting with my audience and remaining adaptable. I view it as a dialogue rather than a compromise. While I may have a distinct vision, I listen to feedback and engage with my community to understand their desires and preferences. This allows me to make informed decisions that align with my artistic vision while still meeting the needs of my audience.

Can you share some challenges you face in translating your thoughts into design?
Translating my thoughts into design, while an exciting and fulfilling process, does come with its share of challenges. One key challenge is ensuring that the final design captures the essence of the original concept and the emotions I want to convey. It can be a delicate task to translate abstract ideas, inspired by elements like nature, surrealism, and storytelling, into tangible, wearable art pieces. Additionally, as a brand that values sustainability and ethical practices, I face the challenge of sourcing materials that align with these principles. It can be time-consuming to find high-quality, ethically–sourced materials that meet the standards of luxury fashion. Lastly, the ever-evolving nature of the fashion industry means staying attuned to current trends and market demands while remaining true to my brand’s unique identity. Striking this balance between staying relevant and maintaining authenticity is an ongoing challenge.

Echoes of Eden embraces the vision of a future where humanity and technology coexist with nature, challenging us to consider what it means to be human and to embrace the limitless potential of our interconnected world.

If you had to design an outfit inspired by a specific sound or noise, what would that be?
If I were to design an outfit inspired by a specific noise, it would be a captivating journey through the various facets of the ever-changing rhythmic sound of the ocean.

If you were to design an outfit for an extraterrestrial, what would it look like?
Designing for an extraterrestrial being residing on a utopian planet with water as its oxygen source opens the door to a truly innovative and imaginative design. The outfit for this extraterrestrial being would be an embodiment of the harmonious coexistence between nature and AI. It would feature a form-fitting, biomechanical exo-suit that mimics the elegant and streamlined design of marine life, echoing the beauty of the underwater world that surrounds them. The suit’s surface would be covered in an interactive nano-fabric, alive with bioluminescent patterns that change in response to the being’s emotions, just as the vibrant ecosystem of their planet reacts to their presence.
