Studio FCLX has joined forces with Pagan Punk and Jjio__Jjio to create a futuristic yet modern collection of gender-fluid garments entitled “Recalibrate”. Captured by London-based photographer Morrigan Rawson, each piece represents a fusion of latex and knitting and are featured alongside Jjio__Jjio’s original 3D body tank.
Originating in London’s rave and queer scene, Studio FCLX is an experimental, gender-fluid brand that focuses on functionality, sustainability, and pushing the boundaries of latex. The brand is run by designer Lexi, and with her background in art, the work is continuoulsy influenced by different creative mediums, allowing for experimentation with latex in transformational ways. Aiming to shine a new light on latex from wearable daywear to avant-garde costuming, each piece in the collection empowers the wearer with a celebration of individuality and creative expression.
Jet, AKA Pagan Punk, is an anti-disciplinary artist working in fashion and music. As lead vocalist of London-based alt rock band S3LF, their practice is rooted in mythology land the occult. Worldbuilding around an original space opera concept, their work is an exploration of magic, anarchist resistance, and models of utopia. In collaboration with Studio FCLX, “Recalibrate” continues their exploration of handknit craft with a DIY punk sensibility and modular approach to fashion design.
German-born, London-based artist Joel, creates environments that de-code rules and conventions around identity, body politics, and sexuality by exposing systems of authority embedded into material realities. The pieces can be described as hyper-real constructed instruments for the body or digital/physical hybrids that allow for concepts of power, status, freedom, and restrain to be played with. Parts of the work can also be experienced in the flesh at Playbody, a new-era laboratory for experimental design and club environments launching in London this summer.
