Tell us about you and your brand.
I graduated from the Malaysian Institute of Art (M.I.A) with more than 10 years of experience and multiple accolades accumulating. Hayden Koh is a true believer when it comes to quality, material choices, and ethically sourced materials. I believe in the freedom of thought and expression while upholding the power of confidence and seductive touch. The brand speaks with a strong feminine voice and serves to encourage women to create their own significantly individualistic looks.
If you could recreate the wardrobe for any film, which one would you choose and why?
I’d choose Star Wars because I’m a fan of the movie and it would be an interesting challenge to design costumes for different characters from different planets. The range of space and imagination to be creative is endless. Additionally, being able to design something futuristic in the realm of storytelling is truly compelling.
What has been the most memorable experience of your career?
It would be my first runway show at Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week. It was such a surreal experience for someone like me as I grew up in a small town and started out in the city. The environment behind the scenes was chaotic and the runway was exhilarating. I remember having a zipper issue with one of the models and it was one of the most nerve-wrecking moments ever. Nonetheless, I’m truly grateful forthe opportunity and gained a lot of experience.
If you had full financial freedom, what fivethings you would you do first?
First of all, I love dogs and have two of my own. I would help stray dogs and build a shelter. Secondly, I would help to end incurable diseases like the current pandemic that we are still facing. It’s devastating to see lives lostevery day and the ways it is affecting our daily lives. Thirdly, I would make biodegradable fabric more accessible. Pollution of materials is an ongoing issue that is affecting our environment. In addition, I would make plant-based meat more accessible and try to explore our solar system as I have always believed in other life forms.
