While in the beginning of 2021, the fashion trends had us reliving the 90s, by transforming our favorite clothing stores into the 1995 rom-com classic “Clueless”. By the end of the year, we were thrust into the resurrection of low-rise couture. Despite their brief re-debut the trend quietly fell flat.
As Millennials graced Tik Tok with viral videos fighting back against low-rise jeans, and people writing into the New York Times asking, “can I still wear low rise jeans?”, the industry put it on the back burner. That was, until this year, 2022, when almost every clothing, retail, and neighborhood store, started stocking their shelves and racks with miniskirts, ruching dresses and floral, lots and lots of floral print.
THE MINI-SKIRT
The leggy trend made it’s exit in the later 2000s, as high-waisted jeans aka “mom jeans” made its way back into our closets. Whether it be because the pandemic had us cooped up inside our homes longer than we’d like, we were feeling a on edge. Much like fashion we needed a little rebellion, hence the revival of the mini skirt.
New age fashion icons such as Kendall Jenner dress up a leather mini skirt , while Rapping sensation Megan Thee Stallion opts for a sexier all leather look. Stranger Things star Natalia Dyer goes for more of a classier option by stunning in a killer mini with embroidery stitching.
THE WAIST THINNER
Celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Kylie Jenner and anyone wanting to hide a few inches off their waist, has rocked a ruched dress, top, and or skirt. The power of a ruched item gives the illusion that you’ve either hit the gym or have an amazing surgeon. The instant waist thinner snatches your midsection drawing your attention upwards or down your body, making those around you do a double take.
OFFICE GLAM
Whether you work from home or are going back into the office, picking pieces to start your day is the highlight of the morning aside from coffee of course. Australian luxury brand and siblings Camilla & Marc have beautifully collided fashion and work attire in ways that are simply magic.
Turning a business suit and or dress into something a little more fabulous, can make going into the office fun and less of a chore.
For the Love of Floral
From winning E! People’s Fashion Icon Award, to being Essence’s’ Style Icon, Tracee Ellis Ross stuns on Instagram daily and knows a thing or two about creating dramatic looks. While on ‘Live with Kelly and Ryan’, Ross rocked the Roberto Cavalli Spring 2022 collection which include a floor length floral dress with matching gloves. Since then, floral print, designs and embroidery has flooded our favorite stores.
Donatella Versace once said, “I was a fashion addict by the time I was 11 years old. I’d wear a mini-skirt and patent-leather boots.”
If the mini skirt, ruched clothes, floral prints, and sleek office wear is a must have for celeb fashionistas, these trendy pieces are perfect for sprucing up your wardrobe.
