WORDS BY KIMBERLY HADDAD

Seeking to examine the connection between the implicit and explicit within the context of the human body and its external covering, this collection illustrates a unique story by combining four elements: the body, spirit, silhouette, and material.

“My ambition is to create wearable art, which treats the human body as a canvas,” said Shenhav Bar, student at Shenkar College of Engineering, Design and Art. “All of this was possible thanks to the 3D technology that enables movement in material that is basically motionless.” The fluidic duo of vibrant green and burnt orange was created live on the models’ bodies, utilizing recycled merino wool and the use of water. This technique formed the illusion that the wool was seizing the body from within, molding to its constructed form.

To compliment the pieces, a collaboration was sparked between Shenhav and Adir Jacobi, an artist specializing in functional art, to produce a mini collection of bags under the name ALEF SHIN.
This artistic series showcased the convergence of both digital and physical worlds, creating harmony between movement and the human body. “The purpose of this work is to express the perceptions of a passing moment, which to me, is so significant for today’s generation.”
